generally, Thin and lean; curved.Maria is a rather gorgeous young lady, with long, silky black hair and icy-blue eyes that are pale; but she is not blind. However, she is colorblind, and can only see a few select colors more than black and white. Very limited with colors, she doesn't have a very good fashion sense, and could put on a lime-green shirt and a red skirt and not notice, for green and red are the colors completely gone to her. Her general attire is of a t-shirt and jeans, along with some bands in her bangs and many more on her wrists. She likes jewelry, but it's odd "jewelry." She prefers bands, scrunchies, and she wears a blue-gem necklace wrapped around her left wrist. She had earrings, but their fake. One tattoo; a tramp stamp as some would call it, of a butterfly landing on a flower; two of her favorite things. She's thinly built, but lean. She's not weak by any means, she can hold her own in a fight, even in this form; but not for as long as her animal form. She likes wearing boots; she says because as an animal it feels safer to have your feet protected from potential snakes and what-not.
when shifted, Strong. Firm. Displeased.clicky!
As a cougar (or mountain lion), Maria looks much more serious than in her human form. And stronger. Her huge paws could prove fatal if she hit you with them upside the head, and her claws are like daggers in their sheaths. Her long, thick tail follows behind her, and she often lets it trail behind her on the ground, rarely wanting to hold it up. As a cat, her tail does flick when she's upset; so this is the only form you'll be able to tell when she's aggravated, for it just is a habit; nothing she thinks about. Her ears are big, rounded, and much more lighter tan inside. She has lighter tan coat on her underbelly, paws and her neck and muzzle; but not from age, obviously. She has black on her muzzle around her whiskers, and the backs of her ears as well. Her general fur color is an orange-tan color, or rather a golden-brown.

traits, Friendly. Tolerant. Uneasy. Low self-esteem.
FRIENDLY Maria, or as she prefers to be called 'Mari', is generally a very kind person. Thanks to her general kindness, almost every clique she drifts to has a hard time shoving her away. She gets along with almost everyone she meets, and even if people annoy her she's very good at keeping her temper under control. Of course there are limits to such control, and sometimes she'll snap, but more often than not you'll be on her good side. If you're not, well.. then, probably no one else in this school can stand you.
TOLERANT She accepts a lot of what happens to her, she's very good at letting things go and moving on. Not too many people look to bother the pretty girl, but those who do won't get the reaction they're probably looking for. She can stand a lot of insults and a lot of stupidity, and even when they insult her friends she's pretty good at handling it calmly rather than childishly fighting back. The two exceptions to her tolerance are the sluts and the men who think they're "all that." These types are the only ones that can send her into a frenzy in an instant.
UNEASY Easily frightened and always on edge, you could probably get a good reaction out of her on Halloween. She may act calm on the outside like nothing can make her take a double-take, but she's a very nervous person. She hates getting things wrong, and if she screws up too bad on a test she'll probably pout for a good day or two. It's not that she strives to be perfect, she's just always afraid that, in doing one thing wrong, she's made a complete fool of herself. She doesn't want people to have a reason to laugh at her. She's always looking over her shoulder, as if someone's stalking her, though it isn't too noticeable to others.
LOW SELF-ESTEEM She tends to think very little of herself, always telling herself she could be doing better. The young girl doesn't think she's good enough to love anyone, and has generally stopped dating for this reason. She feels that she'll ruin someone's reputation if they're with her, and if they don't have much of one to uphold, she's just downright scared to death she'll hurt them, or that they're using her generally high status to get themselves higher in the ranks. She doesn't know if she's good for much else, but don't think she'll let this happen to her so easily.

story, Difficult. Hard times. Getting better.Though she seems well-rounded and used to a less fanciful life, believe it or not, Maria was born into money- and plenty of it. Being an only child, her mother spent all her time spoiling her gorgeous daughter while her father was more often than not out at work. Her mother was blonde, making it evident the young girl takes after her father. Her parents expected an obnoxious teenager as she grew older, one that was common of children who got whatever they wanted, but instead she was the complete opposite. She learned as she got older to be more sparing with the money her parents would give her, and was satisfied by the less expensive clothes that most rich teens wouldn't be caught dead in. In fact, she always came home from shopping with extra to give back. Her mom and dad had no idea how it happened, but they weren't going to complain. Three years ago, when Maria was fourteen, her mother suddenly got very sick. Their father was still ever lost in his restless job, and so Maria took it upon herself to take care of her mom, as well as cleaning and cooking dinner and cleaning. She learned responsibility very early in life because she chose to, in order to care for her mom as she had always taken care of Mari. The teenager got sick a lot when she was a baby, so she was just returning the favor. But things fell out of place after this.
A year later, one night when her father returned home very, very late at night, the fifteen-year-old went downstairs to see him- having stayed up so late to greet him as always- and she was shocked when she saw him with another woman. She spoke out and asked who she was, and everything spiraled out of control. There was screaming, her mom woke up, and in the end her parents got divorced. Her mother regretted the decision though, she saw how much Maria's behavior towards all men changed after the incident. She thought badly of them all afterwards, thought none of them could ever sit still. Though her mom tried to make her understand it was just some men that were like that, but the bitter girl hardly ever listened. It wasn't long before her mom's health progressively got worse and worse, and by the end of the year the doctors were certain she wouldn't last another year. With little to no money now that her father had left, Mari got a job or two when she needed to, and took it upon herself to pay the bills and get the food. She cleans the small apartment they live in now, does the laundry and the dishes, and.. well, everything. Her mother could hardly do a thing now, but she tried to keep close to Maria even while she was running around, sitting her down to talk and rest once in awhile. Her daughter, despite being miserable with so much work at such a young age, only ever said the jobs were fun and easy, and that she didn't mind cleaning and cooking at all. She juggles school, work and house-work now, and though she's very bright she ends up missing quite a few of her classes. Not too many people know about her rough life at home, because at school she acts like nothing's wrong. She doesn't want people worrying is all.

example post, Maria; Another site; ResponseWell, at least the boy she had chosen to speak to (not that there were many people still around to chose from) had a sense of humor. A soft grin tugged at the corners of the teenager's mouth, her eyes gleaming a bit. She had been a bit more secluded lately, and she sometimes forgot she needed human contact to stay sane. She let herself laugh lightly in response to his words and respond just as playfully, "Wow, I must have fallen asleep. Did I miss my classes?" She joked a bit, shaking her head and looking down at the tray of now cold food that she really didn't want to be eating anymore. But she was hungry, and picked up a piece of said food and flicked it into her mouth. She almost wanted to shudder. Food that was supposed to be cooked should never get cold, and it should never, ever be eaten if it did. But she was very strict about eating what she was given, she needed it after all. To try and muddle through the awful taste of cold mashed potatoes and gravy, she looked back up to this curious boy before her as he spoke once more, inquiring about what she had been thinking about; why she got distracted with it. She hummed a bit in thought and looked up at the ceiling, pondering it. What had she been thinking about again? "I was just thinking about things that needed to be done.." She said thoughtfully after a moment, setting her ice-blue eyes on him, surprised to see he had decided to get up and instead seat himself across from her. Blinking a bit in light confusion, she rested her head in her palm and propped her elbow up on the table to support her head. She hadn't expected him to come sit with her.. odd.
What was more odd, though, was what he said next; that your thoughts were one of your main distractions. She wondered if that was true or not, and though it made her feel a bit stupid, she decided to ask. "You think that's true?" She asked, her words a bit hard to understand seeing as her hand was covering her mouth the way she was sitting now. She wasn't one to sit properly if she didn't have to, she preferred to let loose and just be comfortable rather than 'proper'. Having her elbows on the table and her hand over her mouth was one of those 'improper' ways to sit (and try to speak in), she was told, but she didn't care to correct herself unless in the presence of her teachers. She was respectful, but hell if she was going to care around her friends and people that wouldn't judge her. And this boy surely didn't seem like he would be one to care, no, not at all. She was a bit amused by this boy's out-going nature, or perhaps it was easy-going. Maybe both were right. Either way, what she decided was important was that he didn't intimidate her by any means; that was always a relief. She was a drifter, knew most of the kids around school, the good and the bad. She didn't get involved with the bad, she wasn't too much of a troublemaker, but in hanging out with the "lower-class" she was sometimes met with the same harsh punishment from the populars. Then they would turn around and talk to her again when she wandered back into their group. Such weird creatures humans were. She disliked many of the populars due to this behavior, but there were a few who definitely had a heart.
Turning her attention back to the blonde before her, the black-haired girl decided to ask a question now. "You look familiar; where have I seen you before?" She asked curiously, looking him over. There were a lot of people she saw but never spoke to, even if she was such a friendly and sociable person. You couldn't meet everyone, but she sure seemed to like trying. She liked people, and though she could act a bit grumpy and cruel when you first met her, if you gave her a few days and kept poking at her you'd get her to act like herself freely around you. She was just a bit distrusting, wary. "I try not to, really," she said in response to his suggestion to not get distracted, saying it was never fun. She always meant to pay attention, but she had to be multi-tasking in her head just as well in her actions on a daily basis. It was kind of hard to stay focused on one thing, for one thought led to another that reminded her of her duties at home. She really needed to just get out for once, but she was always afraid to leave her mom at home by herself for too long. The sickly woman insisted she could get up and around the house on her own, but Mari was very strict on not letting her. She was afraid something would happen when she wasn't there, that was all.. She tried not to think about it now though, her eyes flicking but up to this curious boy and offering a smile that was quite typical of her.
