generally, slender and delicate lookingGraceful. That is the first thing that comes to mind when looking at this beauty. She has this certain feline grace, the grace that you can see in dancers, along with the regal sense of bearing that make up her entire being. The many years of ballet have trained her well... unless, of course, you see her off the dance floor. Though she walks with grace, at any particular moment in time, you might spot her falling down a flight of stairs or something. Because, despite the grace, she is actually quite clumsy... to her chagrin.
Lucia is slightly on the short side, and what I mean by “slightly” is that she is often asked if she is twelve or something. She's just barely over five feet tall, and actually very happy about that. Because she was afraid of being four feet forever. She seems to have that neat perfection you sometimes see in small people, with a slightly pointed cat-like face, and she almost looks delicate. Though one would be amiss to call her delicate – just because she's little doesn't mean that she can't pack a punch. Because she can, and has.
Rhiannon will tell anyone that she is a living, breathing cliché. It irritates her all the time, but there isn't much she can do about the way she looks, since she absolutely detests those magical products. Lucia has, to put it in a totally cliché way: “long, golden hair like a sun's ray and eyes the colour of the summer sky”. Ugh. Shudder. But it's true – her long wavy hair is too red-blonde to be called gold, though some shades of flaxen can be seen it. Her large eyes are a brilliant sapphire colour with gold and green flecks. She sometimes wears glasses... when she remembers....
when shifted, slender and long-legedIt’s fitting that Lucia’s shifted form is that of a cat, especially this one. A leopard is one of the more graceful animals in the animal kingdom, something that goes to her human form as well. Her shifted form is slight and delicate looking, moving with the feline grace attributed to big cats. Long-legged, but not as long as her cousins the cheetah, Lucia is easily one of the fastest creatures out there. Her golden pelt is dotted with the round black spots that mark her as a leopard. They are centred near her hind legs, less near her head and muzzle. Her eyes are still blue in this form, something that differs from the usual leopard.

traits, friendly, stubborn, cheerful, brightLucia is genuinely a gentle person. Unless you anger her – which is nearly impossible to do – you'll rarely see her dark side. Lucia is very laid-back and calm, and has this serene air about her. She's not known to raise her voice unless in battle, and rarely ever gets excited about small stuff. Whether it's just plain laziness or just the innate calmness, no one knows. But it works. She's very down-to-earth and honest, almost brutally honest. But she never means to hurt anyone – actually, she hates hurting others.
Unfailingly polite to everyone, even enemies, Lucia is a very respectful sort of girl. Oh, she might be tart and sarcastic (she has quite the tongue on her), but she manages to do it in a way that's almost respectful. Also, she knows when to speak up and when to hold her tongue. She was raised with the whole “speak when spoken to era” sort of feel and though opinionated, she tends to keep her opinions to herself. Lucia has especially perfected the “hide in plain sight” mentality. Though a chatterbox, Lucia knows when to keep her mouth shut – after all, you get a lot more information when you're quiet than when you're making yourself the centre of attention.
Lucia is almost obnoxiously friendly and cheerful to just about everyone. She's the type that greets everyone with a smile, even those she really doesn't like. She has an almost annoyingly optimistic outlook on life, greeting everything head-on. That's where her stubbornness comes in. Lucia has a stubborn streak a mile wide. Even if she is proven wrong, she will not change her path. She has been known as “mule-headed”, and once she has decided to do something, the Gods help everyone, because she WILL do it. Even if it means running people over to do so. She has a sense of justice that no one but her really knows, and she will stick to that like glue. She doesn't disobey orders exactly, but if she thinks there is something wrong with the way her teachers are going about something, you bet your bottom that she is going to do it HER way.
But things aren't always rainbows and sunshine with this girl, and she does have a darker side. It is nearly impossible for her to hate anyone, or to get angry, really, but once you do, woe on you. Slow to anger and slow to forgive, Lucia has been known to hold grudges. Her temper, when aroused, is fierce and can be quiet violent, a change from her normal calm and gentle personality. She has been known to lash out physically, even though she hates hurting others. She has tried to control her temper, but will be the first one to admit that she doesn't have the best control over it. It's just wise not to anger her.
There is also the little matter of her arrogance. While she really doesn't have that big of an ego, there certainly is one. What she knows, she knows. She doesn't see it really as having an ego, just knowing stuff. And Lucia assumes that everyone wants to know everything... which, believe me, can get really annoying. But she honestly doesn't understand that...

story, sad but determinedLucia's family was rather interesting, something she doesn't talk a lot about. Her mother came from a rich family German, old money and old power. Rachel was very frail young woman, pale and delicate. But also beautiful. It was no wonder that Army Ranger James Taylor fell in love with her. Her parents protested the match, saying that she was too weak to get married. But the two of them ignored them, and they were married a year after they met.
Unfortunately, the marriage was doomed. Though James loved Rachel dearly, he had PTSD from being in Iraq. He got incredibly violent every time he had a drink, and had and extremely short temper. He never laid a hand on his fragile wife, but he lashed out verbally. Especially because she couldn’t seem to get pregnant. They were married for nearly ten years before she finally had children, a baby boy they named Zane. The doctor told her that another birth would kill her – but Rachel desperately longed for a girl. James didn’t want to risk him, but she pleaded with her husband. He gave in.
Finally, on January 27th, little Lucia Irene Newman was born. Her mother was so incredibly happy, and gushed that she couldn’t wait to see her grow up. That never happened. Rachel never recovered from the labour, and she died three days later. James never got over it and, irrationally, blamed his daughter for it. Lucia never understood why her father hated her – he had forbade her brother to ever tell her about her mother. Zane did his best to protect his little sister from their father's abusive hands, but there was only so much a six year old could do.
Lucia grew up trying to please her father and always failing. She desperately wanted to please her father, and did her best at everything she did. She was popular at school, a 4.0 grade point average, and an incredible dancer. Yet James never lightened up. In fact, as she grew older and was in high school, the beatings would get worse, for she resembled her mother. And even worse - James was terrified of shifters. When he daughter shifted into a leopard one day after a horrible beating, he was terrified. He shipped her off to Innovation, which was only a year old at this point. She hasn't had contact with him since she for two years, which brings us to now.

Everything hurt. Oh, Gods, did it hurt.
She staggered, fell, and for a moment, she didn't move. The ground was blissfully soft, almost welcoming... and also extremely cold. Part of her mind screamed at her to get up, that she was going to end up dying in the snow if she didn't start moving, and that this was not a good place to collapse. But the rest of her... could care less. Every fiber of her being screamed the need for rest. Even if it was on the cold snow that blanketed the ground. She was aware of a dull, throbbing pain in her head, the ever-present pain that she had woken up with.
Selene closed her eyes, trying to find the strength to stand. It seemed like she was trying all too hard these days. Ever since she woken up in the hull of a ship, frightened, not knowing where she was. A chunk of her memory was missing. The last thing she remembered before waking up in the ship was going off to the American Revolutionary War... and then nothing. Times had obviously changed, which wasn't nearly as freaky as the fact that she couldn't remember. Anything. It scared her, shaken her to the core.
From what she gathered, she had been leaving somewhere. She found with her a packed bag. But what really confused her was the fact that she was injured - a head injury that had required stitches. The stitches were gone now, but they had been what confused her the most. The obvious conclusion was that she had suffered a head wound that did some pertinent damage. That fact was unsettling, because, mostly she didn't know how she got it. This whole situation had shaken her more than anything, more than her torture, more than anything she probably would've ever experience in her life.
In her bag she had found, in the pages of a book, an address scribbled down in her handwriting. Considering that she had no where else to go - but not knowing where she was heading now - she had figured that the address was the best place to start. Everything had started out fine, but, a week later, she was exhausted, cold, and on the verge of giving up. She had money, yes, but she was so close to the school. For one person she had asked told her that the place she was looking for was some fancy school. Selene didn't understand why she had written it down, or what it's importance to her was, but she didn't care at this point.
With a groan, the dark haired woman pushed herself up, shivering slightly. She looked quiet exhausted, dark circles under her chocolate eyes, her clothes torn. She supposed she looked pathetic. Normally, that would irritate her, but she was tired and cold. Looking around her, she picked up the backpack and spotted a gate. A huge one. Tilting her head back, she saw that she was at the entrance of a huge building... A building that matched the one on the piece of paper clutched in her hand. With a sigh of relief, she stumbled to the gate.
"I found it... I'm not sure what I found, but I found it..." She said, resting slightly on the gate, before the world spun and she collapsed near it, head spinning.
